The Map vs The Terrain

When the map (the script) doesn’t seem to match the terrain (your experience), the mistake lies in the map, not the terrain.

Everyone's terrain and everyone’s map are unique and different from anyone else’s.

What these two principles mean is that your best source of knowledge about your sexuality is your own inner experience. When you notice a disagreement between the terrain and the map—and everyone does, at some point—always assume that your body is right.

And remember that everyone’s body is different from yours—just as everyone’s maps are unique. This means that each person’s journey, from being a lost traveler to becoming a master navigator, will be different.
